The SHELL Senožeti petrol station, located at Senožeti 93 in Dol pri Ljubljani, is more than just a fuel station. It is designed as a multifunctional point that, in addition to selling fuel, also includes a shop, a car wash and, which is of key importance to many drivers, a catering area. As part of the globally recognized Shell brand, customer expectations are often high, but an analysis of the experiences and opinions of visitors reveals a picture full of contradictions, where praise is intertwined with harsh criticism. This service station, located in a strategically good location, shows great potential, but at the same time faces challenges that significantly affect the overall customer experience.

Analysis of services and offerings

The service station offers a wide range of services typical of modern petrol stations. Among the basic services is, of course, the sale of fuel, where customers can choose from various types, including premium Shell V-Power fuels. Some users, as can be seen from online reviews, rate the quality of the fuel as "one of the best in the area", which is an important factor for those who swear by a particular brand. In addition to fuel, there is also a car wash and a well-stocked shop with basic necessities for the road. The facility is also accessible to people with reduced mobility, which is definitely a positive feature.

Catering offer : Café between heaven and hell

The biggest differences in opinion occur when evaluating the catering section, which operates under the Shell Café concept. This segment is often decisive in whether a customer will stop for just a few minutes or extend their stay and make an additional purchase. The experiences are, to put it mildly, polarized.

On the one hand, we have extremely positive responses. For example, customer Elvir Čeman described the service as "excellent and fast", the staff as "very friendly and polite", and even called the coffee "the best". Such praise indicates that the staff is able to create a pleasant atmosphere and offer a quality product that exceeds the expectations of customers at a gas station.

However, on the other hand, there are completely opposite experiences that cast a shadow on the entire image of the service. Robert Sejdiji described a situation in which he was completely ignored by both employees, who preferred to deal with another customer. After waiting for almost five minutes without any response, he gave up and left. Such an experience does not only mean poor service, but also a complete absence of basic culture and respect for the customer. Even harsher criticism was made years ago by user Grega Mela, who described the team as "catastrophic", and attributed "two left hands" and incompetence to the staff. He mentioned extremely long waiting times, both in the outdoor garden (even up to 30 minutes) and at the cash register, which indicates systemic problems in the organization of work and attitude towards customers.

These extreme ratings create an uncertain image. A potential visitor is left with a dilemma: will they experience friendly service and great coffee , or will they encounter ignorance and slowness? The experience seems to depend heavily on which shift is on duty, indicating a lack of standardization of service quality.

Food and beverage quality

Although the service is not a classic restaurant , its catering offer is based on the concept of fast food . The Shell Café is said to offer various types of coffee, pastries, packaged sandwiches and the popular hot dogs. The opinion of the user El Bart adds an interesting insight into the quality of the offer: "espresso is sometimes better from a machine, sometimes from the hands of a person working a shift". This again highlights the uneven quality, which depends not only on the machine, but also on the skill and motivation of the employee. While one customer praises the delicious coffee as the best, another believes that the machine is sometimes a better choice. This suggests that although they have the potential to make a good drink , the execution is not always at the highest level. The food offer is designed for a quick snack, which is appropriate for the location, but without fast and efficient service, even the best sandwich loses its charm.

Operational aspects and working hours

An important aspect that affects the user experience is also the opening hours. The service is open during the week and on Saturdays from 6:00 to 21:00, and on Sundays from 8:00 to 20:00. User Grega Mele pointed out in his criticism that the schedule is too short and that the service consequently misses most of the morning and evening traffic. For a location that, in his opinion, has "a lot of potential for good traffic", this is a significant business disadvantage. Drivers who travel early in the morning or late in the evening have to turn to the competition, which reduces the competitiveness of this unit.

Tidiness and general impression

Despite criticism of the staff and the schedule, some reviews praise the cleanliness of the facility itself. Four years ago, Šalamun also wrote that the service is "always clean, tidy and equipped". This suggests that at least basic maintenance and cleanliness are carried out to a satisfactory level. However, the same user noted a minor flaw: "the advertising boards and offers on the handles can sometimes be from the last century". This detail, although seemingly insignificant, may indicate an occasional lack of attention to detail, which fits into the general picture of inconsistency.

Two-faced service

The SHELL Senožeti gas station is an example of a location with great, but untapped potential. On the one hand, it offers high-quality fuels, a clean and tidy space, and, occasionally, excellent service and coffee. On the other hand, it faces serious and repeated complaints about the attitude of employees, slowness and ignorance, which can completely ruin the customer experience. The uneven quality of service, where a visit is like a lottery, is the biggest weakness of this service. An additional minus is the working hours, which are not adapted to the needs of all drivers.

For potential customers, this means that a visit can be a pleasant surprise or a bitter disappointment. Those looking for reliable and fast service may prefer the second option. Those willing to take a risk, however, may be rewarded with one of the best coffees in the area. In the end, it is clear that with better staff management and unification of service standards, the SHELL Senožeti gas station could become one of the most popular stops in this part of Slovenia.
